The “Wow” Factor

13 Aug

Over the weekend, I reread the article “The Power of Wow” written by Josh Hunt. It focused on the fact that people were 6 times more likely to talk about a business that they considered a 5 on a scale of 1 to 5 than they were to talk about businesses they rate as a 4. This is the power of Wow!  Success has something to do with what you know and what you can do. It has a lot to do with who you know and how well you are able to be a contributing member of an active network of people who care about what you do and look out for one another. A few days ago, I met with a good customer and his staff. My customer told me that they are taking the initiative to reach out and introduce themselves to new people they come in contact with on a daily basis. They are using social networking sites such as FaceBook, Linked In and Twitter. They are getting to know new people. Staying in touch with old friends and customers. Looking for ways to help and offering it freely. And being willing to ask for the help they need to grow the business.

It does take a fair amount of work, but it’s enjoyable work. Growing a business, it’s all about offering a valuable service, building relationships and truly enjoying what you do.  The past few years has been tough for the economy, but this year there is hope for a turnaround and renewal. For the doom and gloom crowd life is nothing but a waiting room for the blow that will do us all in.  It’s my belief that your attitude about your current situation will determine your success. Nothing new to talk about to your customers?  Why not relaunch a service or tell a new and exciting story! People love good news.  Tell them! Find your “wow”!

Make yourself the promise that you will not take a seat at the pity party everyone else is throwing. Develop a sense of urgency and take the attitude that your time is now. You may make some mistakes, but you’ll never be a failure unless you start blaming someone else. Believe in yourself and I will guarantee that somewhere along the way, you will meet someone who will see greatness in you and let you know it.

It’s Monday…..let’s do this!

Make it a QRRIFFIC week!
